Summer Hydration Tips

Summer for many in Wisconsin is the best time to get out of the home, soak up the sun and enjoy activities like walking or gardening. Proper hydration plays a pivotal role in the success of our health at any age and especially when you are 55 and older. Hydration does not only come in the form of what we drink but also what we eat. If we are not properly fueling our bodies with nutrient rich foods and fluids, we risk becoming dehydrated. Symptoms of dehydration include physical and cognitive changes including but not limited to:
- Dry mouth and sticky saliva:
- Fatigue and weakness:
- Confusion or sudden cognitive changes:
- Dizziness or lightheadedness
- Reduced urine output and darker-colored urine:
- Rapid heartbeat or low blood pressure
- Skin changes:
- Constipation or urinary tract infections
At Timeless Homecare we promote a healthy lifestyle by encouraging our clients to enjoy balanced meals and drinks. We assist with proper food and drink choices that will help avoid dehydration. Our caregivers will assist with or prepare meals and drinks and give consistent reminders. The following are a list of foods and drinks that promote hydration.

Long-term Care Insurance Options – Did You Know?

Timeless Homecare is dedicated to assisting our clients with maximizing coverage options every step of the way. Many long-term care (LTC) insurance policies cover our non-medical home care services. At Timeless Homecare we pride ourselves on working closely with your insurance company to ensure proper documentation is submitted for a seamless process. It is important to note coverage details vary policy to policy.
Coverages
These LTC insurance policies provide funding for in-home care, allowing individuals to remain in their own homes. Coverage typically includes:
- Personal care services: Assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support
- Homemaker services: Help with meal preparation, laundry, housekeeping, and other routine household tasks
- Companionship and care coordination: Emotional support, supervision, and assistance from care managers to organize services and ensure safety
- Respite care: Temporary relief for primary caregivers, sometimes provided at home, adult day care, or a facility
Eligibility and Qualification
To receive benefits, most LTC policies require that the insured be certified as chronically ill, meaning they are unable to perform two or more ADLs independently or have severe cognitive impairment. Policies usually have:
- Personal care services: Assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support
- Homemaker services: Help with meal preparation, laundry, housekeeping, and other routine household tasks
- Companionship and care coordination: Emotional support, supervision, and assistance from care managers to organize services and ensure safety
- Respite care: Temporary relief for primary caregivers, sometimes provided at home, adult day care, or a facility
Important Considerations
- Coverage limits vary by policy, including daily, weekly, or monthly maximums and total lifetime benefits
- Not all home care services are covered; reviewing the policy’s schedule of benefits is essential to understand exclusions and restrictions
- Accurate documentation and claims submission are critical to ensure payment and avoid denials
- Reviewing the policy details and consulting with the insurance provider or acae management agency, or elder law attorney can help maximize benefits and ensure proper coverage
